NEW NICOLE KIDMAN PIC FROM LUHRMANN'S 'AUSTRALIA' (FOXY)

Here's a chick Hemingway would love. Check out this hi-res pic (thanks to Dark Horizons) of the upcoming film "Australia" in which Nicole Kidman re-teams with "Moulin Rouge!" director Baz Luhrmann.

As for the story? It couldn't be more Hemingway-esque.

Set in northern Australia prior to World War II, it centers on an English aristocrat (Kidman) who inherits a ranch the size of Maryland. When English cattle barons plot to take her land, she reluctantly joins forces with a tough cattle driver (Hugh Jackman) to drive 2,000 head of cattle across hundreds of miles of the country's most unforgiving land. Along the way, they endure the bombing of Darwin, Australia, by the Japanese forces that had attacked Pearl Harbor only months earlier.

A bit of trivia: Russell Crowe was attached as the lead during pre-production. Unfortunately, 20th Century Fox executives wanted to reduce Crowe's salary considerably, in order to appease the film's budget. This decision compelled him to ultimately leave the project. Boo-hoo...

More trivia: Heath Ledger was set to star in this film, but dropped out to play The Joker in The Dark Knight

It certainly sounds like a sweeping epic...
