OSCAR AD TOUTING HEATH LEDGER'S JOKER

The WB has begun its offical Oscar push with this Variety advertisement for Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight" for a Best Supporting Actor nomination.

Oscar ballots are mailed on December 26th, polls close on January 12th, and the nominations are announced on January 22nd.

HEMINGWAY'S LOUNGE OSCAR PREDICTIONS

I'm not gonna toot my own horn here -- screw it -- OK, I will, but I once swept EVERY category in my office Oscar pool. Every silly category. I couldn't believe it. I've also been a pretty good Oscar handicapper. I guess I'll always have a job in vegas if I want one, right?

This year, I'm very under the weather and battling a cold so I may not be on my game but here are my 2008 Oscar Predictions in the order and preference as to who I think may win.

Well, they're in ... How did the Lounge do in yesterday's post? Not that bad ... We got about 24/30 correct. That's 80 percent. Not the best, not the worst. Story of my life...

The biggest surprise? Angelina Jolie and Sean Penn snubbed and little-movie-that-could Juno coming in much much stronger than predictors may have thought. Think of it as this year's Little Miss Sunshine.
