After revealing that he would be appearing at WrestleMania, "The Wrestler" star Mickey Rourke playfully called out WWE wrestler Chris Jericho at the SAG Awards that other night saying that Jericho “better get in shape” because Rourke is “coming after his ass.”

Recently, Both Rourke and Jericho appeared on Larry King Live and in an uncomfortable moment of hostility, Jericho called Rourke out, who did his best to avoid a confrontation.

Preliminary Nielsen estimates show that 29.2% of U.S. households were watching the presidential inauguration -- easily the largest in decades but below the 37.4 household rating for Ronald Reagan. My fellow citizens:

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forbearers, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

Carlos Slim (sounds like a fake name, huh?), reputed to be the world's second-richest man, would gain the prestige of owning one of the world's best-known and most influential newspapers - The New York Times.

The Latin American billionaire looks to expand his empire in the United States in a deal that could make him the largest shareholder of The New York Times Co.
The $250 million investment by Mexican tycoon Carlos Slim could provide some synergies with his telecommunications holdings in Latin America, analysts say.

Six Sentences (6S) is a webzine dedicated to the art of microflash fiction, a difficult art in the world of prose. Stories are told in just six sentences only - and what a wealth of stories: Tales that evoke awe and beauty and sadness and outright guffaws.

In fact, the site has also published its first volume in a bound collection. This is the first print anthology of these little gems by dozens of authors, some well-known, others hoping to be so.

NO BOOZE FOR NY TIMES SCRIBES

OK... So booze and journalism go hand-in-hand. Sort of. But, that said, times are changin' now and not surprisingly, the New York Times is following suit with every other news outfit in the country and updating its expenses guidlines. Bill Schmidt, the paper's Deputy Managing Editor, just sent out a memo to staffers with a list of new requests that require some minor adjustment, but shouldn't rattle anyone on Eighth Avenue.

Staffers are no longer allowed to expense drinks when they take one another out (they had that? what a life!), and they'll only be allowed to expense $50 on dinner and $30 on lunch—all in all, a very manageable sacrifice.

END OF AN ERA: 'FOLIES' TO CLOSE AT TROP

After almost 50 years in Las Vegas, the topless show 'Les Folies Bergere' is closing its doors. Yesterday, the casino executives at Tropicana announced that the show will close on March 28th this year. In its place will be a new undisclosed production.

Folies started in the late 50s and actually came from Paris. It opened under the Tropicana entertainment director at the time, Lou Walters. Yup, Babs Walters father.

Reports are that showgirl performances in Vegas have started to decline due to all the Cirque du Soleil shows dominating the strip.

The closing of Folies also means that Bally's Jubilee show will be the last full-scale showgirl event on the Vegas Strip.

End of an era...

Current Tropicana President Ron Thacker didn't explain the decision in a statement, though he did say the casino is "extremely proud to have been part of such an iconic Las Vegas production.”

MICKEY ROURKE IN 'IRON MAN 2'

Hot news all over the web this week... Actors Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are in talks with Paramount honchos to star as different villains in the Iron Man sequel.

Rourke, currently undergoing a critical resurgence for his incredible performance in "The Wrestler," would play the Crimson Dynamo. In the Marvel comic, he is a heavily tattooed Russian arms dealer who battles the superhero in a nuclear-powered suit of armor that can control electricity.



The character is tricked into defecting to the US and went to work for Stark, forcing the Soviets to send KGB assassin Black Widow after him. What's interesting here is that the Black Widow character has also been rumored to appear in the sequel.

Meanwhile though it's not confirmed, Rockwell is tipped to be playing Justin Hammer, a multibillionaire British businessman and a rival of industrialist Tony Stark.

SLY STALLONE'S 'THE EXPENDABLES' - A SCRIPT REVIEW

"Vern" over at Ain't It Cool managed to get his hands on a script for the upcoming Sly Stallone actioner "The Expendables." This one seems like a big deal since it also stars Jet Li, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Forest Whitaker and Randy Couture.

It centers on a ragtag team of a group of elite mercenary badasses.

We're so there ...

Here's part of the review:

"Barney is a very different character from Rambo. For one thing, his name is Barney. For another he talks in more than one sentence sometimes. He's almost a father figure to the team and finds himself always listening to other people's problems and trying to be supportive. The other character who gets the most screen time is the lovelorn Lee Christmas. He's supposed to be American but calls a guy "mate" at one point, which means he's played by Jason Statham. There's also Kong Kao, who will be played by Jet Li. He does alot of kicking, but is much more of a supporting character than Li usually plays. I do think it's a pretty good character for Li, though, because he gets some funny lines. He's an unhappy smartass, not the usual Li type of character."
