My buddies over at Geeks of Doom (love that name!) posted a small item recently about the deity-of-an-actor Eric Roberts. I was so jazzed by the news, I figured I would post it here with some thoughts.
In any case, the LA Daily News is reporting that the uber-cool '80s thesp has just been cast as a mafia kingpin in Christopher Nolan's new Batman film "The Dark Knight." Cameras roll in June.
While he may have been out of the high-profile film spotlight for a bit, fanboys have been somewhat familiar with his work of late since Roberts appears as a mysterious man behind the curtain (so to speak) on the NBC comic book-like serial "Heroes."
If superpowers and saving the cheerleader ain't your bag, you can also see Roberts on Showtime's lesbian drama "The L Word." In June, look for him in the Hallmark Channel presentation of "Pandemic."
Wha??? There's something on Hallmark called "Pandemic"?? What's next, a docudrama on HGTV called "Implosion" ?
Sorry.
Back to Bats: Christian Bale returns as the nocturnal Caped Crusader as does Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine. New to the Warner Bros. sequel are Maggie Gyllenhaal (replacing the woefully miscast Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes), Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent, and Heath Ledger as The Joker.
Earlier this week, the web took one on the chin as fake Joker pics circulated and had fanboys salivating. They were pretty good fakes!
Also, check out what happened when I met Roberts... Who happens to be a super-cool dude.
Look for the superhero tentpole flick July 18th, 2008.
-- Until next time,
Jack Napier
